Rumblings & Grumblings

First, today, I take on a certain AM Sports Talk Radio Host who I think is funnier than any stand up comic going today…

Rest in peace. We’ve all heard that expression a thousand times. But perhaps nowhere is that phrase more needed right now than for the family of Natalee Holloway. You remember Natalee Holloway, she was the American teenager who vanished in May 2005 while on her senior class trip to Aruba.

In the 3 1/2 years since her disappearance, her body has never been found and her family has had to endure the complete mockery of what they call a judicial system in Aruba.

Arrests made. Charges dropped. Then more arrests followed by more charges dropped.

Earlier this year, the most damning evidence against the prime suspect, Joran van der Sloot, was brought to light. It was a video in which he essentially confessed to Natalee’s murder.

Yet even after such seemingly irrefutable evidence as this, an appeals court in Aruba ruled that van der Sloott should not be rearrested in the disappearance of U.S. teenager Natalee Holloway.

Oh yeah, left out a minor detail. Van der Sloot’s old man is an Aruban judge.

Then just yesterday came the latest in this twisted tale. CNN reported that Aruban police are investigating two new tips they hope will provide the corroborating evidence they need to make an arrest and that Aruban police — once again! — consider van der Sloot to be the prime suspect in Holloway’s disappearance.

Really? Hard to believe, Harry.

Seems a new witness has emerged who can place van der Sloot and his father, Paulus van der Sloot, near a pond on the island at 4 a.m. on the day Holloway vanished.

Wow, again, hard to believe. His father was involved, at least according to this witness? That is truly a hard pill to swallow. Oh wait, I just swallowed it.

The witness told authorities he saw a young man, wet from the chest down and wearing only one shoe, running along a road from the pond to a fast-food restaurant. The witness said he saw the young man and an older man driving slowly down the road in a red Jeep about 10 minutes later. The pond was not among those searched in the early stages of the investigation, according to lead prosectuor Hans Mos said.

Hold the phone here….

‘The pond was not among those searched….?’

Now I have never been to Aruba but how big could it be???!!! My point is, after all this time, wouldn’t you think the authorities would have searched every possible location on the island?!

If that weren’t enough, a second witness, a former girlfriend of van der Sloot also told police he made suspicious-sounding comments while they were on the beach. The witness, publicly known only as Celes, told police van der Sloot said: “Who knows? You may now be on the beach with someone who is able to get rid of a corpse.”

And lest anyone think young Mr. van der Sloot is being treated unfairly and is in fact a good person and all that stuff…

The man who got the original “confession” on tape, a Dutch journalist named Peter De Vries, set up another sting that shows van der Sloot meeting with undercover reporters who posed as Dutch sex industry bosses looking for Thai prostitutes to recruit to the Netherlands as sex slaves.

In the tape, van der Sloot allegedly promises to supply Thai girls for prostitution in Holland and accepts 1,000 Euros as advance payment for his services.

The good news in all this is ead prosectuor Hans Mos told CNN “We are hoping to make a decision by the end of this year or early next year as to whether we will re-arrest [the younger] van der Sloot or not.”

Yeahm you’re right, Hans. You don’t want to rush into anything, make any hasty decisions. Why not think about it over the holidays then get back to us?

What a joke.

Truly a very sad case that will hopefuly come to a conclusion soon so Natalee Holloway can indeed finally, rest in peace.

Til next time.
